Organization 101

The New Year is right around the corner and most of us are making resolutions. I can't help you to shed the extra 10 pounds, give advice on finances, or spice up your love life. But, I can give you tips on how to organize your #home, so you can live your best life in 2019!

Let's tackle the easiest place to hide the clutter. As a professional #cleaner, my experience has been, that it's the closet. Even in the tidiest of homes, when closet doors are opened the clutter becomes clear.

Give yourself the opportunity to be sucessful. Are you well rested, focused, and don't have plans for the day? It sounds like the perfect time to do some organizing!

Pop open a bottle of wine, blast the music, and pick an area of your home that needs a little love.

Here are 5 foolproof steps to organizing any closet (or room) in your home!

Step #1 Select a space that you're determined to tackle. Make this a kid free zone.

Step #2 Declutter. The strategy that I find works best, is to remove everything. By removing all items, you'll create a blank canvas that will give you a sense of how much space you have to work with. It also allows you to visualize the beautiful possibilities.

Step #3 Separate everything into 3 piles--trash, donate, keep. Pro tip, if you haven't used it in 2 years, you probably don't need it.

Step #4 Here's the fun part! Place the items, neatly, back into the closet (or room).

Shelf dividers are a good way to separate things without having them topple over. Matching baskets provide both beauty and function when used to group like objects.

Step #5 Stand back and marvel at the fantastic job you've done!

You now have a #clean, organized, and useful space. We are creatures of habit and change doesn't happen over night. But, with mindfulness and a little planning (and patience), we can start the New Year off right! Be safe & have a Happy New Year!
