4 Tips For A Fresh Smelling Home!

Updated: Dec 3, 2018

With Hanukkah happening and Christmas right around the corner, we all have increased foot-traffic through our homes. You want your family and friends to be comfortable in your living space, so you #organize and #clean up. But, have you gone nose blind?

There are few things better than having a guest say your home smells a-ma-zing! I go out of my way to get this reaction. Would you like a crisp, fresh scent to greet you at the front door? Well, I can help with that. Here are 4 tips that will make your home smell better...without the use of harsh chemicals.

1. Essential Oil Diffuser

One of our clients uses an oil diffuser on the main level of her 3 story #home. The smell of warm lavender, ginger, or citrus wafts through the air. It is divine and has, on more than one occasion, lifted my mood. These can be found at most big box home goods stores or, if you're an e-shopper, Amazon.

2. Stovetop Potpourri

This is easy and essentially free. Bonus! You can create concoctions using items in your kitchen. Fill a pot with water (a mini crock pot also works well) and add ingredients that smell good to you. Apples and cinnamon sticks. Orange rinds, lemons, and cloves. Lavender, vanilla extract, and herbs. Allow yourself to be creative.

3. Homemade Air Freshener

There's no need to breath in more chemicals than we already do. You can make your own air freshener using the following ingredients:

1 spray bottle

1 tablespoon baking soda

2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol

8 drops essential oil

12 oz distilled water

4. Candle warmers

If you have young kids and/or pets, candles are a safety hazard. With candle warmers, you don't have to worry about smoke, fire, or soot, and you get the same aromatic benefits of lighting a candle.

If none of these suggestions work for you, open a few windows. The cold #Delaware air is sure to erase any unpleasant lingering scents.

If you take the time to try any of these suggestions, please let me know how they worked for you.
